Hello, my name is Darvyn. I'm in my mid-twenties and I like consuming stuff. I've been a lurker for the majority of my time online, but I am currently trying to fix that. I work full-time in a library. I love to read, watch TV/movies, write, and draw.

I am incredibly fickle with my hyperfixations. But when I'm hyperfixated, it consumes my entire life until I hyperfixate on something new.

Here are my current hyperfixation(s) as of 19 November 2021:

What We Do In the Shadows (TV show)
The Great Ace Attorney
Pokemon: Sword and Shield

--

Here are things that I will always like:

Ace Attorney
Gravity Falls
Harry Potter
Homestuck
Kingdom Hearts
Mob Psycho 100
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Portal
Saiki Kusuo Psi Nan
Yowamushi-Pedal

--

Thank you for your time and consideration. I plan to post plot bunnies and drabbles here and anything else that I feel fit my fancy. I also would love to interact with people, so please feel free to hmu.

So in an effort to understand this website a little more, I decided to scroll through the latest things for a little bit. It was honestly refreshing and interesting to be able to read the journaling and thoughts of strangers.

There's a lot about the weather and spring (aka allergies season). Which is perfect, because just this morning when I walked into work, I noticed the wisteria that grows over the entrance is currently blooming and smells absolutely lovely. Which reminds me about an interesting tidbit I read once, that wisteria represents knowledge (needs ref. I'll doublecheck after work) which is very fitting for a library.

And so I'm attempting to step out of my comfort zone and actually document some things. Not that it will be particularly interesting to the average outsider, but I think it'll at least be a little cathartic for me.

Speaking of cathartic things, I managed to conquer my phone anxiety earlier only to find that the strawberry mochi that I wanted to order isn't going to be available for another week, sadness. So I will have to confront that phone anxiety in a week's time once again. I also know that I'm going to have to confront it when I begin my therapist search in earnest. Ah well.

I also found a writing meme that I think I'll do after I'm done with this entry. To anyone that reads this, I hope you have a great day/evening!

So I'm back once more, quiet embarrassingly long after attempting to reach out to folks, only to disappear offline not long afterwards.

I'm mentally psyching myself up to respond to the various comments I received after making a post on "addme". I apologize for the radio silence for so long ahh.

Matters not, I'm gonna try to dive back in!

Okay, still dipping my toes into Dreamwidth land. I've subscribed to a couple more journals, so I'm looking forward to seeing my reading page become a little more lively!

Still a bit confused and nervous. But alas, I am determined to figure things out!

Nearly 10 months after signing up for Dreamwidth and promptly forgetting about it, I am attempting to figure it out once more.

Please be patient with me as I figure out how to make a feed that I actually want to consume.

Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated!!

Here is my idea.

I'll type it here too.

Imagine and "All You Need is Kill"/"Edge of Tomorrow" AU with your OTP.

For those unfamiliar with either of those "All You Need is Kill" is a manga that inspired the movie "Edge of Tomorrow" starring Tom Cruise. The premise is an action/sci-fi version of Groundhog's Day.

You have the main character enlisted into the army to fight these aliens that have come to Earth. But during his first battle, he dies rather gruesomely, only to find himself waking up the day before. He goes out and dies again. But this time he crosses paths with the army's best fighter, who recognizes what is happening to him and tells him to seek her out when he wakes up again.

Plot ensues, and the main character finds himself falling for the best fighter as he grows to learn more and more about her with each loop.

I just think this premise is very fun, and would be very fun to explore with other OTPs and Fandoms.

Specific examples include:

WangXian - Wei WuXian getting stuck in the loop and trying to reach the annoyingly talented and stoic Lan WangJi. And so Lan Zhan has to deal with Wei Ying who talks a mile a minute and is way too enthusiastic about using the loops to their advantage to win the war.

But now I'm also considering... Lan WangJi getting looped (literally) into this and having to deal with burgeoning feelings for the infuriating Wei WuXian that trains him to deal with the loops and how to use them to his advantage. Ahh. Just either or sound good to me.

Also I suppose this could be used in-universe or as an AU. I just love me some time-loop shenanigans.

Sterek - Honestly either Stiles or Derek could get stuck in the loop. It would just be delightful to watch. I also suppose this is one that could happen in-universe too.

This premise, whether it's specifically an Edge of Tomorrow/All You Need is Kill AU or just a time loop AU, is just so appealing to me. So much pining can develop for the person that is stuck in a loop. I mean I also understand there are much darker spins that the time loop AU can take, but sue me, I enjoy time shenanigans.

That's all I wanted to say. Maybe I'll write a time loop fic one of these days.

We begin in the year of 2005, Darvyn is just starting middle school in a new town after having just moved. A fresh faced new baby as well as working extra to be able to pay the sky high property tax, their parents were unable to continue the annual tradition of driving Darvyn to school everyday.

A popular solution to such a predicament is to start taking the school bus, which is where we find young Darvyn. Being in a new environment, as well as having to adjust to a completely different morning routine, they were buzzing with nervous excitement.

Their neighborhood was full of school children, so there was a plethora of middle and high school students waiting at the designated bus stop. There was one particular person that they instantly took to. A life-long friend that introduced them to the world of exploring interests online. Darvyn was still a bit wary and not very good at interacting with people online, but they really enjoyed looking at Kingdom Hearts fanart on DeviantArt and reading Kingdom Hearts fanfics on Fanfiction.net.

This was but the tip of the fandom iceberg, and in coming years Darvyn slowly descended into the depths of consuming fandom content.

-//-

I started off with Kingdom Hearts, which was my first introduction into ~fan~ created content. Prior to that, I didn't even know that it was possible.

It quickly spiraled after that, I created a KH fan OC, realized that there was fandom for books (also previously unfathomable to me), started reading a ton of Harry Potter fanfics. Had a slight Twilight phase (but then again, who didn't?). Realized there was Manga and Anime, and fandoms for those too? Fruits Basket fanfics galore. DeathNote. Ranma 1/2... spiral spiral spiral...

Attempted writing very terrible Harry Potter and Kingdom Hearts fanfics in high school. (I was more focused on making my own fiction at the time, which is why it took so long to finally trying my hand at fanfiction)

In high school I was very into many animes. Video games as well. A few movies affected me enough to seek out fanfics (Inception, Pirates of the Caribbean, X-Men). I got into Homestuck and made my first tumblr in 2012. Finally read the Percy Jackson series. Got into drawing Homestuck fanart. Fanart is still rather elusive to me, but it comes out occasionally.

Briefly into SuperWhoLock (again, who wasn't?). Various TV shows here and there (Merlin, Suits, Parks and Rec, Avatar the Last Airbender, miscellaneous cartoons, etc.)

Ahh there's so much. After high school and once I started college as well as working, I was rather consistently into Homestuck and indie video games that popped up during hiatuses. I got more into video games in general as well. Bioshock, Dishonored, Call of Duty, Borderlands, Don't Starve, subsequent Kingdom Hearts games, Pokemon X/Y (and others), Animal Crossing, Ace Attorney (there's bound to be more, but that's all I've got off the top of my head)... There's so many, apologies.

I consumed a lot of animes and mangas too. HunterXHunter, Naruto, Bleach, Mob Psycho 100, One Punch Man, Boku No Hero Academia, Yowamushi Pedal, Durarara!!, Baccano, Kuroshitsuji, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Ouran High School Host Club, No. 6, Nobari No Ou, Mirai Nikki, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Aijin... Et cetera et cetera... Oof, so many... I have a My Anime List, I might post it here someday.

My hyperfixations continued to come and go. And now we're basically in the present.

At this time you can reference my sticky post, in which I list what I'm currently enamored with.

As you may see, I've mostly lurked during my entire fandom career. But only in recent years am I trying to branch out. And so concludes my fan history! Thank you for reading lol. All of the things I've mentioned here still hold a special place in my heart, so please feel free to hmu about any of them.

Best!

Hello to whomever reads this!

You can call me Darvyn. I'm in my mid-twenties and I've been a fandom lurker for more than half of my life.

I'm multi-fandom, and I will never shame your ships, so please don't shame mine. I'm of the belief that you can dislike a ship, and still be friends with a person. I don't partake in fandom discourse, I just like to have fun and babble about things that elicit emotional responses from me. (oof, sorry for that, but i just saw something on twitter this morning that makes me feel as though this needs to be said lol)

I'm very all over the place with whatever grasps my interest, but my current hyperfixation is Teen Wolf. Which I am completely aware of how fricken late I am to the party, but alas, I am here. This started in July 2019, so it has dug its claws into me and has yet to let me go. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm also on a kick of costume/historical/period dramas which started in November 2019.
SO. MUCH. PINING.

Additionally, I quite literally just joined Dreamwidth the other day, so please bear with me as I figure out how things work.

Uh... I usually pride myself as an artist, but I've been dabbling in fic writing properly for the past couple years. I am under the same username on my Ao3. (can you tell that I don't know what else to say?)

Once I submit this, I'm certain I'll think of a million other things to say, but that's the gist of it.

Thank you for your time, I hope you have a wonderful day/evening!

Best.

I intend for this to be a compilation of multi-fandom plot bunnies, but depending on how unmanageable this list gets, it's open to future adjustment.

PLOT BUNNIES THAT I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO GET DOWN

Now that I have the obligatory first post out of the way, I can get down to business and start talking about the media I've been consuming lately.

On Thanksgiving this past year my family partook in our tradition of watching a film after eating. Due to a gif making tumblr I recently followed, I saw a delightful gif set from Pride and Prejudice (2005) and immediately felt compelled to watch the film with my adult gaze. I remember watching it once when I was younger, but couldn't properly appreciate it.

Come Thanksgiving day, after consuming our fill of food, we went to the living room to choose a film to watch. I insisted upon Pride and Prejudice (2005) to which everyone agreed would be nice to watch. And so we did. And the rest is history. And since that day I have been on a kick for historical dramas and period pieces.

I mentioned this to my co-workers, and they courteously helped me compile a list of shows and films to check out at my leisure.

This is that list.
